Colic is when your healthy newborn excessively cries and can’t be soothed. The exact cause of colic is still unknown, and that’s why there’s not a clear way to help it.
Colic follows the baby’s crying “rule of three”: –
- Starts at around three weeks old
- Lasts more than three hours at a stretch
- Occurs at least three days a week
- Persists for at least three weeks in a row
The good news is that colic only last for a short period and when your baby is four months old, they should no longer be suffering from colic.
If you think your baby is suffering from colic it will be a good idea to contact your doctor so that they can confirm it is colic.
